Job Duties and Overview:

  • Permanent position with a flexible seven-day schedule, requiring attendance on five days per week.
  • Possibility to acquire knowledge and make progress in a rapidly developing field.
  • Perform well in any setting: You are unfazed by the rain and cold. You’ll need to be comfortable working in waders and standing in chilly water for long stretches of time.
  • Help out the team: We will only be successful if we work together. At Tassal, we know that it takes a village to raise a child, so working together is a priority.
  • Capable of performing manual labor: Dip net and handling huge and little brood fish repetitively is part of the task.
  • We wish we had a better grasp of salmon biology, but we’re in it for the education!
  • You are a problem solver who can keep their cool under pressure.
  • Ability to work safely and watch out for the safety of the team. You’ll have the confidence to speak up and express yourself articulately whenever something is bothering you.
  • Learning from mistakes and being open to change are essential in the hatchery industry.
  • Capacity to conform to prescribed norms and follow prescribed instructions as detailed in reports.
  • You are an expert in RAS and flow-through systems, with an existing grasp of, or a willingness to acquire, how Hatchery systems function, and the ability to
  • recognize when problems arise within those systems.
  • The capacity to master water conditions by picking up specifics like fish oxygen needs.
  • Maintain daily tank hygiene by washing screens and removing dead fish.
  • Maintain and inspect all site systems on a daily basis.
