Providing a reliable safeguarding service, our SafeGuarding Teams at the Dubai Campus ensure the safety of the University’s students, faculty, and property while also upholding its principles and achieving its long-term goals. You can expect to work a variety of shifts throughout the week, with some weekends thrown in to help out with events.

In this role, you will assist the Dubai SafeGuarding Response Manager in achieving service priorities and maintaining the security of the Dubai Campus. You will work directly with this manager and report to them. To ensure a dependable and effective safeguarding service to suit the University’s requirements at Dubai Campus, the postholder will supervise an outsourced contracted security team in accordance with service policies and procedures.

As part of their duties, the Postholder will make sure the security duty team is doing their jobs well. Assist with staff training and development and contribute to the design of safeguarding requirements as needed.

Job Duties and Overview:

• Handling the security service that was engaged
• Protecting the Dubai Campus when needed
• Patrolling the Dubai Campus building to ensure the safety of the university’s population and property.
• Safeguarding the University’s assets from natural disasters and other threats and notifying the SafeGuarding Response Manager of any suspected violations of health and safety policies.
• As needed, operating and dealing with various security systems, including those for fire, intrusion, access control, and CCTV.
• Notifying and coordinating with emergency services when required.
• As needed, offer pastoral care and assistance to students, faculty, and guests.
• Represent the University with distinction at all times.
• Address the needs of the service.
• Carry out the duties of the Senior Fire Marshall at the Dubai Campus
• In accordance with service demands, manage one’s own job profile in accordance with established procedures and management’s directions..

Eligibility Criteria/About the Candidate

• Coordinate with UK-based SafeGuarding Managers as needed
• Take part in and finish off any and all mandatory reports, both orally and in writing.
• Conduct evaluations on employee progress and performance.
• Take part in and show mastery of health and safety protocols, including those pertaining to lone worker safety, emergency procedures, and first aid.
• Organize the actions of those who respond first.
• Acquire, transfer, and safely store all materials needed for university operations.
• Take part in any and all pertinent conversations.
• The duties of the position may also include any additional responsibilities that are necessary for the operation of the university.
• Proficient in using computers.
• Experience with electronic security systems such as CCTV, Access Control, Radio systems etc.
• Possess a valid SIRA security supervisor license; have worked as a security supervisor for at least three years; be familiar with the security
• protocols of Heriot-Watt University Dubai 
• Leadership experience in a comparable position
• Background in providing security-related education
