Job Duties and Overview:

• Automatic detection systems, internal/external reports, and manual analysis of network intrusion, system log, and vulnerability warnings require constant monitoring and response.
• Identifying and responding to computer security incidents, isolating the source of intrusions, and providing recommendations for remediation and recovery while maintaining open lines of communication with internal and external customers and escalating as needed is the focus of an incident response team.
• Keeping an eye on threat intelligence sources so that you may inform the community of any recent security or abuse issues
• Threat reduction and response coordination
• Providing technical and procedural support to college IT staff for incident management, threat mitigation, and Electronic Discovery (E-Discovery) requests
• Conducting host and network-based forensics investigations to determine the incident’s cause and extent when required by the incident response strategy.
• HIPAA, FISMA, PCI-DSS, GLBA, DFARS, and NCBI research data access are just some of the regulations that need to be met, and you can get the technical advice and assessment of control requirements you need here.
• Consulting across the division and campus and taking part in ISO projects to improve and automate processes and tools through evaluation, implementation, and/or development Managing requests for service support for certificate authority, vulnerability scanning, data loss protection, and endpoint security
• Being on call for intrusion monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure maintenance around-the-clock, which could require occasional after-hours campus visits.
• All employees should take turns keeping detailed records of workplace accidents and standard operating procedures.
• Pen testing hosts, client/server, and online applications may also be necessary to examine system vulnerabilities for various compliance domains.
