They work with the Youth Team Manager and Coaches to develop and implement a program that provides youth climbers with life-changing experiences and lessons through the medium of climbing.Movement’s mission is to expand the climbing community by providing world-class support, innovative products, and supportive social networks. Bouldering, top-roping, and lead climbing are all available at movement gyms, as are yoga studios, cardio areas, child care, and pro shops selling climbing gear. Each venue welcomes people of many skill levels, from elite athletes to weekend warriors and their families.

Job Duties and Overview:

  • Keep an eye on everyone’s stamina, help them have life-changing experiences, and make sure all team events are centered around our beliefs.
  • Showing empathy and compassion will help you connect with coaches and athletes on a deeper level.
  • Follow the season’s plan and provide daily teaching for this level team, including Competitions, Events, Training Plans, etc., while collaborating with the Youth
  • Team Manager and Team Coach Supervisors.
  • Instruct high school athletes throughout their practices and games as required.
  • Supervise young climbers while they engage in activities like bouldering, leading, and belaying.
  • Manage team rosters, log belay training, keep practice notes organized, and keep in touch with parents to help out the Team Coach Supervisors at this level.
  • Share your thoughts and feelings with the coaches and the administration.
  • Work with the team’s supervisory coach to set up mentoring relationships and encourage each member to grow professionally and personally.
  • Team members should take on the role of “Culture Keeper” and make it their responsibility to make sure all team events are focused on fostering our key values.
  • Coordinate with the head coach to plan the season’s activities, such as training camps, tournaments, and parent meetings.
  • Participate as a coach in all games and practices for this level of team.
  • Supervise young climbers while they engage in activities like bouldering, leading, and belaying.

Eligibility Criteria/About the Candidate

  • Capable of working weekends and three weeknights as a coach 
  • Climbing experience of 5 years or more 
  • Aware of USAC’s Regulations and Policies 
  • Coaching experience at the USA Cycling level 
  • Certification as a USA Cycling Level 2 coach, or the potential to obtain it quickly 
  • Having US Experience The candidate ideally would have experience with climbing competitions, route setting, and/or competitive climbing. 
  • Ability to climb V6 or 5.12+ is desired but not needed.
