Health information management specialist candidates are being considered for our open position. This position offers administrative assistance to the Health Information Management team with tasks such as data entry, record analysis, record completion, data quality and productivity, system support, and the birth registry. Completes all assigned responsibilities promptly and at a high standard, guaranteeing the accuracy of the patient’s legal health record.

Job Duties and Overview:

  • Ensures that all records are thoroughly and promptly analyzed.
  • Fulfills EPIC account requirements When necessary paperwork is not yet available, it gets added to the “Waiting for Documentation” or “Missing Document” queues.
  • Verify with the relevant nursing and ancillary departments to gather any missing paperwork as directed.
  • Get back to providers about the account’s coding issues caused by missing paperwork or dictation.
  • Fills out an unbilled spreadsheet and sends it to management with updates on the status of missing paperwork.
  • Evaluates EMR paperwork, notifies the relevant providers of any charting deficiencies found, and then updates the deficiency management system accordingly.
  • Responsible for keeping track of electronic and manual work queues that are unique to analyses in order to complete analyses and charts on time.
  • When adding or reassigning accounts to processing queues, follows all applicable business policies and system workflow requirements.
  • Identifies facility-wide issues and reports them to the manager.
  • Notifies management of problems or trends that do not meet facility or company standards or rules in a timely manner.
  • Creates a record of every workflow, including the ones that will undergo revisions as a result of new or improved procedures.
  • Competent in working autonomously as an employee working remotely.
  • Further responsibilities may be given.

Eligibility Criteria/About the Candidate

  • Previous experience with Joint Commission and CMS regulations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records is an asset.
  • Acute care facility HIM experience is preferred, as is healthcare revenue cycle experience.
  • The CRCR Do it no later than six months after hiring
