Selected candidates will be assigned within the Dallas Independent School District in accordance with salary scales. Unless otherwise permitted by the chief officer – Human Capital Management, a campus-based employee may not begin a new position for which he or she was selected based on the posting process before the conclusion of the current semester.

Job Duties and Overview:

  • Assist in locating, enrolling, and keeping a caseload of suitable families in the HIPPY Program.
  • Schedule weekly home visits with assigned HIPPY parents to role play the HIPPY curriculum and check in with families as needed.
  • Participate in all regular HIPPY activities (i.e. Field trips, celebrations, trainings, etc.); attend mandatory weekly training of the HIPPY curriculum; assist in the
  • pereparation, provision, and clean up of parent group meetings at participating campuses as assigned by program staff;
  • In cases when families need evaluation and referrals to social services, please have them referred to the HIPPY Coordinator.
  • Always keep family records up to date with correct information.
  • Fill out the necessary database to satisfy the District, the funders, and HIPPY USA.
  • Submit all paperwork and reports in a timely fashion
  • Take part in professional and personal growth opportunities provided by the District, HIPPY USA, and AmeriCorps as directed.
  • Carries out any additional responsibilities placed upon them
  • Employees receiving federal funding for this post are required to submit time and effort reports via personnel activity reports or periodic certification.
  • Consistent and prompt attendance at work is a must for this role.

Eligibility Criteria/About the Candidate

  • Equivalent to a US high school diploma or GED and one of the following: Pass an academic evaluation and have at least 48 college credit hours for an associate degree.
  • Prefer candidates with at least three years of experience as HIPPY part-time home instructors.
  • Evidence of familiarity with the area and the resources accessible to program participants

     

  • Proven skill in adapting work hours to changing priorities
  • Possess the interpersonal and organizational abilities necessary to achieve the position’s objectives.
  • Ability to connect positively with students and their families must be demonstrated.
  • To make house calls, you must have access to your own vehicle.
  • It is ideal that you are a current or former participant parent.

     

  • English and Spanish fluency is a plus.
