This role is temporary. An interim post is defined as one that is created to meet a temporary or ongoing need and has a duration of less than nine months. These positions are exempt from the classified service requirements under KRS 18A.115.
The Health Services Section of KSB is now hiring for the position of Interim Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for providing professional nursing services to patients as an Interim Registered Nurse at Kentucky School for the Blind. You may also be responsible for supervising LPNs, LPNAs, RN candidates, and unlicensed assistive staff as they implement nursing policies and procedures.

Job Duties and Overview:
- Perform primary medical care for all students on campus, including dispensing medication as prescribed, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care, and responding to medical emergencies.
- To meet the health requirements of students, work together with staff and parents.
- Maintains accurate medication records when starting and ending shifts, as well as investigates and reports any suspicious occurrences pertaining to the care of students or patients.
- Work together with contracted medical and mental health experts to address every student’s communication needs.
- Take students to the emergency department or arrange for them to taken there.
- The necessary paperwork should sent.
- Ensure proper stock management by placing orders for supplies and medications as required.
- Be sure to keep the work environment clean and free of germs.
- Take part in and/or lead training sessions as they pertain to the role, the institution, and the division.
- Collaborate as a team to make sure the campus is safe for everyone.
- Carry out other tasks as directed.
